Daily Trip Report - July 24, 2003 Jill
Wechsler - Met with
Laura Kryeziu (the country coordinator of the Hope Fellowship program)
and Myesere Hoxha (the program coordinator for the new NAAC leadership
program being conducted in Kosovo). The meeting was very positive. We
spoke about the Hope Fellowship program, the new NAAC in-country program,
and the Business and Leadership Clinic. Laura and Mesi had a lot of great
suggestions about recruiting participants for the Young Leadership Clinic,
for keeping the members involved and active after their training, and
for cooperating on advocacy projects. They expressed interest in working
together as the Clinic plans develop. Laura also suggested some women
to talk to who have experience directly related to our project. Had lunch
with Arben, Merita, and the other Arben. They took me to a place that
served burak, and Arben & Merita invited me to stay for a night at
their home in Ferizaj. Arben was not able to obtain the adaptor for the
UPS. I visited
ABA CEELI and spoke with Luan. Luan gave me a copy of some laws to photocopy,
and I will come back for more later when I am done with those. We also
spoke for a while about the Business and Leadership Clinic, about Luan's
projects, and about things our groups might want to work together on in
the future. Ate dinner
at Valza's home (stuffed peppers - very good!), then tried to meet with
Liridon to see the movie. Unfortunately, we had some confusion about meeting,
so I saw the movie by myself, but Liridon met me after the movie. We went
for coffee with his friend who used to be the president of the student
union at the Law Faculty and now works as an administrator for the Kosovo
Police. He spoke very highly of a public administration training he attended
and of the police instructor from the US Army who he trains under now. |
